Christmas around the world

In Egypt Christmas for the Coptic Church is on 7 December. For forty days before this, people should not eat meat. On Christmas Eve everybody goes to church. Than at home they eat a special Christmas meal called fata.
In Belgium Christmas begins on 6 December, when St Nicholas brings gifts for the children. The Christmas meal is usually turkey and famous Belgian chockolates.
In Italy most people go to church on Christmas Eve. Christmas dinner sometimes takes five or six hours !
In Japan there is no Santa Claus. But there is a priest, Hoteiosho, an old man who carries a bag full of presents for children. People put on decorations in their homes, they give presents and they eat turkey for dinner on Christmas Day.
In China Christians light up their houses and put decorations on Christmas trees. Children hang up their stockings and hope than Santa Claus will fill them in the night.
